Valley Light Flood Update - July 2024

Efforts to get people out of relief mode continue here in Maai Mahiu. The devastation was simply unimaginable, and the suffering and pain continue.

We have given out many Bibles, and preached the Gospel of hope to many. We are still coming across:

- Lots of people who desperately need counseling and reassurance.

- Homes that are full of mud and debris. We are cleaning up any we come across.

- People whose homes were destroyed by flooding and they are not recorded anywhere. We have helped rebuild some of these homes.

- People in need of serious medical help. A doctor friend at Kijabe Hospital has helped us immensely with one such case.

- People who lost all they owned and still in relief mode. We have supplied many homes with furniture, beds, mattresses, couches, utensils, pots, etc.

- Many who need food. We have held food distribution drives for thousands of people so far – we have a food distribution drive tomorrow for 500 families at @Valley Light.

- Homes that had their toilets washed away and the pits buried in the mud. We are rebuilding such toilets.

We know there are others working very hard to help in our community, and we are thankful for them. We are working together as much as we can. We will be doing this for many months to come, as God allows.

But none of this would be possible without those of you who have entrusted your resources to us to get this work done. We don’t take your generosity for granted. A mere “thank you” is not enough.

Just remember, “God is not unjust; He will not forget your work and the love you have shown Him as you have helped His people and continue to help them” Hebrews 6:10.
