Back in 1967 three families moved from Abbotsford to Kamloops for work. Since these families had been actively involved in their church in Abbotsford, they began meeting during the week to pray and study the Bible together. On Sundays they met with others for Bible teaching at Marion Schilling School. By 1969, this small group was gathering every Sunday for worship under the ministry of Norman Fehr. Around that time, the British Columbia Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches decided to support this fledgling work.

In 1970 the name Valleyview Bible Church was chosen and formalized and Jake Balzer became the first pastor (1970-1977). Over the next few years the church grew steadily by drawing people from the neighbourhood and larger community. In 1974 the congregation moved into their new multi-purpose building at the present location. Previous pastors who have helped to serve and lead Valleyview Bible Church are Jake Balzer (1970-1977), John Klassen (1978-1982), Rueben Pauls (1982-1995), LaMont Schmidt (1995-2003), and Dan Warkentin (2003-2021).
