Description: Oversight and operation of the Valleyview sound system which is used for spoken presentations including sermons and drama; for the production of live music for worship; and is an essential part of the church’s computer-based multimedia systems.
Purpose: To properly augment and amplify sound to maximize the impact of musical and spoken services.

Ways to serve: Inquire about taking a ‘test-drive’ serving in an entry-level role that interests you and makes use of your gifts and skills.
Entry Level: “Roadie” - doing the setting up and tearing down of equipment: microphones, cabling, etc. “Assistant Board Operator” (see “Board Operator”).
- Who is eligible? Attenders at Valleyview with an interest in sound and a willingness to learn and serve.
Leading Level: “Board Operator” sets up and operates all sound equipment including wired and wireless microphones, musical instruments, equalization systems, mixing, and the audio desk. The operator works closely with musicians, presenters and church leadership.
- Who is eligible? Anyone with the technical abilities and “good ears”, who understands how to achieve a proper live sound mix.
Where to Begin: Inquire about taking a ‘test-drive’ serving in an entry-level role that interests you and makes use of your gifts and skills. Sitting in on a worship music practice (generally once a week, often early Sunday mornings) is a great way to have a job-shadowing experience.
